Join us for a Virtual Summer Reading Program!

Attend virtual programs through ZOOM as well as read to earn cool prizes!

Due to COVID-19, we will handling things a little differently this summer.  We have partnered with READsquared to bring you a virtual way to log your reading for you and your entire family!

READING GROUPS AND RULES

Little Tots (Under 3s)

  1. Begin reading June 14th and finish reading by August  1st.
  2. Time spent reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener.
  3. Read for a total of 30 days this summer; it does not have to be consecutive.  (As little as 10 minutes counts!)
  4. Bring in reading log and pick up prizes between August 3rd and August 15th.

Listeners (3-5)

  1. Begin reading June 14th and finish reading by August  1st.
  2. Reading materials include: books, magazines, audiobooks, graphic novels, and ebooks.
  3. Time spent reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener.
  4. Each completed week will earn you one ticket that you can spend on prizes at the end of the Summer Reading Program.
  5. Turn in completed reading logs to receive tickets and pick up prizes between August 3rd and August 15th.

Kindergarten-6th Grade 

  1. Begin reading June 14th and finish reading by August  1st.
  2. Reading materials include: books, magazines, audiobooks, graphic novels, and ebooks.
  3. Time spent reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener.
  4. Each completed week will earn you one ticket that you can spend on prizes at the end of the Summer Reading Program.
  5. Turn in completed reading logs to receive tickets and pick up prizes between August 3rd and August 15th.

Teen Reading Rules 2020

  1. Begin reading June 14th and finish reading by August  1st.
  2. Reading materials include: books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, graphic novels, and ebooks.
  3. Time spent reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener.
  4. Read a maximum of 42 hours over the course of the Summer. 
  5. Turn in completed reading logs to pick up prizes between August 3rd and August 15th.

Adult Reading Rules 2020

  1. Begin reading June 14th and finish reading by August  1st.
  2. Reading materials include: books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, graphic novels, and ebooks.
  3. Time spent reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener.
  4. Read a maximum of 42 hours over the course of the Summer. 
  5. Turn in completed reading logs to pick up prizes between August 3rd and August 15th.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMS

Storytime - Mondays at 10:30 AM, June 15-July 27

  • This hour long virtual story time will feature a weekly theme with stories, crafts, activities, and more.  The program will be offered via Zoom.  Please register through Eventbrite, or by calling the Library at 217-864-3622 to get access to the Zoom link.
  • Once you are registered, you will need to come into the Library or call for curbside pickup the week before to get a bag full of crafts and activities that go along with the virtual program.

Sleepytime Tales - Tuesdays at 6:30 PM, June 16-July 28

American Girl Club 

  • Tuesday, June 23 at 4:30 PM
    • This program features an American Girl doll and a specific time period in History with activities to go along with it.  This week's theme is Camping and will feature, Willa, a Wellie Wisher!  This program is for children ages 7 - 6th Grade.  When you register, you will receive a Zoom link to access the virtual program. 
    • Once you are registered, you will need to come into the Library or call for curbside pickup the week before to get a bag full of crafts and activities that go along with the virtual program.

Sky's the Limit

  • Tuesday, June 30 at 4:30 PM
    • Join us for activities involving experiments, investigation, and  discussion about science and technology.  This week's theme is Paleontology and Archaeology.  This program is for children age 7 - 6th Grade.  When you register you will receive a Zoom link to join the virtual program.
    • Once you are registered, you will need to come into the Library or call for curbside pickup the week before to get a bag full of crafts and activities that go along with the virtual program.

VIRTUAL PERFORMERS

This summer, we have teamed with some great performers to bring you Virtual Performances such as Bubble Shows, Magic Shows, Science Shows, and more! These will be available via YouTube links that you can find below.  Watch these videos from the comfort of your own home anytime from now through August 30.  The great thing about these videos is you can watch them as many times as you'd like! Be sure to check them out!
